Shoe makeover...and my uniform....

Here they are! My hippie Sanuk shoes. I couldn't decide on any one thing so I just started and this is what I came up with. I really like the way they turned out. Molly does too, she wants a pair now! I think I'm going to get her some little plain shoes from Target and hook her up.

I started with the little free handed flower applique (I cut it a little different for each shoe) and then just had fun with embroidery and crochet thread. I think the little paisley thingies are my favorite part. I can totally see myself wearing these for the next few years. I love them that much, they are so stinkin comfy.

I like the way they look with jeans on too. You know how some shoes look good until you put jeans over them? Remember when I told you how awkward it is to take pictures of your own shoes? Yeah, still awkward.

I couldn't resist the sharpies altogether so I had a little fun on the inside too...I love colored sharpies. They make me so happy. I still remember the day I got the whole set of fine point colored ones at Sam's. It was a good day.

I had to throw this picture in for good measure. I've always wanted one of those "me and my camera" pictures that all of the cool people have. So here it is, I finally have one, too bad my hair was all frizzed out on one side...oh well.

Now about the uniform (sorry for the bad mirror, I love the look of antique mirrors, but they do make this sort of thing hard). You know how I said that when I find a good thing I just wear it until it's worn out? Well, Ben calls this my uniform! LOL! See how stylish the pattern designer is?! LOL! A good old pair of jeans, a long undershirt, a t shirt, and a zip up hoodie. Everyday of the week. It's all about comfort here people. I wouldn't know style if it slapped me in the face! If I'm not in this, I'm in PJ pants...I guess you could call the PJ pants and t shirts my home uniform. I really don't wear jeans at home much. I know I'm not the only one with a uniform, what's yours?

Love the shoes!! You did an awesome job of decorating them to suit your taste. I too have a hard time finding the perfect shoe.
The shoes ROCK! And I am laughing so hard! I too have a uniform. Lets see the winter is I rotate 4 long sleeve tees with my black sweater and comfy pants, like modern sweats the velour kind and the nubby kind. In the summer I rotate 2 pairs, YES TWO, pairs of shorts and 4 Anne Taylor Loft shirts-EXACT Style different colors. We spend a lot of time a the pool so that is how I get away with the 2 shorts thing. I have others in my closet, but don't wear them as much.

I am with Goosegirl though. I am going to make some skirts, not dresses, for myself this spring. I made one last spring and did pull it out every so often. Very comfortable. Oh but you will laugh. It was the EXACT same style as my favorite Ann Taylor Loft skirt. I just copied it! I just don't stray far from styles I like. It's a lot easier in making wardrobe decisions every day.

The shoes are so perfect! And you've seen my uniform - yeah, it's pretty much the same. One of the kids in my preschool class asked me the other day why I wear the same tshirt ALL the TIME? Guess it's time to switch it up a little. ;)

Your shoes are inspirational! Great idea. Reading previous comments I see that we all come from the same school as far as uniforms are concerned.

lol...I'm in stitches. I've talked with you so much on the phone and always felt like we were quite a bit a like. We have the same uniform...too funny! I'm sitting here in it right now. I do wear contacts though, when I get them put in.
When I actually have jeans and a real shirt on, the children ask, "where are we going?"
PS...I love those shoes. We've been doing up shoes here the past few weeks, you can see them on the blog, only I've yet to do some for me.

I've never thought about decorating my Sanuhs! Funny, though I used to paint my canvas tennis shoes all of the time. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yea for happy shoes!
My uniform is similar to yours. Sweatpants that are too big, ok too long since I'm short, and a tshirt... usually also too big.
I also have the habit of wearing the same jeans until they are thread bare and either rip in a bad place or split seams. It's sad for dh. He says I dress like a hobo.
Dh bought me 2 new dresses last week with the hope of shakin' things up... I just don't know. I've always been a tomboy and dresses just don't work all the time for my activities as a mama.
Like Debbie said, when I am not in sweats the kids want to know where I'm going, rotflol.
Can I admit I have a fantastic shoe collection, pumps, boots and all that, that I almost never wear? For shame.

Love all the comments ladies! I'm glad we can laugh and be honest. I wish I had more than jeans, sweatshirts and t-shirts in my wardrobe. My dh threatened to sign me up for What not to wear also... but then I threatened him with the same.
Love the shoes, and I share your love of sharpies and nice writing pens.

Um, I want those. Awesome shoes lady!!! I have a uniform also, yoga pants or jeans and a t-shirt. I don't see the point of putting on nice clothes when they are just going to get snotted on by the kids ;)

I want some!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I hope something comes of the Sanuk thing. It's about time you are recognized for your creativity. I can't think of anyone more deserving of something like this. :) I love you "Sambodini". (I don't know why I just thought of that, but I remember calling you that when I was little, haha.)

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We
