She put her tiny little arms around my neck while I was chopping wood and getting the fire going this morning......
Maddie: "You're a good mama"
Me: "Am I?"
Maddie: "A gooder and gooder mama....cause you don't beat us or nothin"
I got to thinking after that about all of the silly things we say as a family, that only we understand, and thought about how sweet it is that we have our own little language. I'm sure every family does. You see, I say "I'm gunna beat you!" about 100 times a day when they are being too cute, obnoxious, silly, or when they spray me with the old rubber band around the sprayer trick AGAIN (one of these days I'm gunna learn to look at that sprayer before I turn the stinkin water on!). When they are just looking extra cute (like she is here in this "Maddie made get-up") and they are in danger of being smothered in mama kisses I usually say "I can't even stand you right now!". Then there are the times that I'm sitting and I realize that nobody is sitting on me (I hate that feeling), I say "Who's my brat?" or "Poor ole mama" and they will race each other to get to me because they know exactly what it means.....mama's lap is empty and if I hurry I can get the best spot! If I say "I need my favorite" Tim brings me my favorite quilt and he covers me up with it and he usually says "poor baby, mama was cold...it's OK baby, I got you your favorite". We all say "tender" instead of pretend because Molly did that when she was little, here's an example: "Mom is that real or just tender?" We also say snickle instead of snuggle...

(Maddie came up with this outfit a few weeks back and then asked for "princess hair" and an photo shoot. I'm tellin you, "I can't stand" this kid!)
What are some of your family sayings?

Isn't that funny! I guess she was just glad that I don't beat her since I say I'm going to so many times a day! LOL! Tha kid is so crazy!
I sorted out my java problem on my computer and could finally watch all your videos. Loved them!
She makes me want to NM right now to see my toddler (Faith is in her first mission trip, all the way in Rehoboth, NM. :/ with her Daddy).
We also have our own language...but most times we make everything sound tiny...like chicken-chikey; hugs-huggies; cold-coldie...or some things we say in spanish (my native language).
ohhh... how i miss my Foofoo right now. :(
P.S. our favorite family work is "secret patrick way" in place of "secret passage way" from my sweet five year old.
We call our mini van a bus. Allison wanted to ride the big yellow bus at about age 3, so I told her we already had a bus...the van, and it stuck.
We also call restaurants food houses, another Allison thing.
J.J. has us into looking for funny words...some of the most recent ones he's found is issue, and snickerdoodle. When he says or hears one of the words, he busts up laughing.
Lastly, when someone does something extra sweet, we say "what happens when you're sweet" and then smother them with kisses.
Thanks for this post, Samantha.
Love your blog. ;)
