Thank you everyone for participating in this post! I had such a good time reading all of your lovely comments and looking at your blogs! xoxo, Samantha**** Or 300 and something post giveaway! LOL! I kinda missed the 300th post a few back, but that's OK. I had no idea when I started this blog that it would end up being such a big part of my life. I have met so many dear friends through this space. You all have helped me through one of the hardest times of my life. We've laughed, we've cried, and we have rejoiced together....there is such a sense of community here in blog land and you have made me feel welcome! I so wish we could all sit together here at my house, drink coffee, and let the kids play in the yard together....Wouldn't it be nice if we could all be neighbors?
To thank you for being such loyal friends and 'neighbors' I'm going to do a giveaway. Leave a comment telling me a little about yourself or even your favorite post, tell me what pattern you would like to win, and remember to leave me your email address and name. I will pick 1 winner for every 20 comments on Sunday evening.
Thank you all, really, I appreciate you all so much. Love, Samantha

Hi, Samantha! My favorite post was the one where you were a horrible mother. hehehehehe! and your little guy was stuck behind the armoire. The reason I liked it was because I got to hear your darling southern accent.

On the other hand, I also really liked (if that is the appropriate term) the post where you were so incredibly real about your feelings towards the Lord after the loss of your baby. Your precious cries were felt and I couldn't hellp but think that Jesus was weeping with you, comforting you all the while knowing and understanding your utter and total loss Bless you, Friend.

Pattern I like is the Miss Madeline.

Congrats on making it to 300 posts! (Every time I attempt to get back into blogging, I fizzle out after a few.)

I always love the stuff that gets filed under "Confessions of a Hillybilly", because, living in Tennessee, we do the exact same things. I think the post with the video about the lizard being loose in the house was one of the first entries I ever read in your blog. (I'm an avid reader...not so avid commenter.)

And anyone who isn't hillbilly, as far as I'm concerned, is snooty. Hillbillies have the most fun. :)

I already own Miss Madeline, and have heard great things about Miss Molly, so I think that's the one I'd like to try next. :)

Samantha you are so sweet. My favorite post is when you revealed you had decided to adopt. Brought tears of joy knowing the pain you had suffered recently. I would love to win the Madeline pattern...and I have decided if I don't I'm going to have to buy it. It's been on my want list for awhile. :)

Congratulations on your "300th"

I have to say I laughed out loud at the miss Maddie post - I was so jealous of your well behaved, polite non messy little thing - and then I realized that she was duct tape - some mornings I need more coffee :)

I've been drooling over your patterns for some time now and would LOVE the Miss Madeline Pattern

congratulations again!

congrats on your 300 and something-th! i love your blog, i love your designs, and i love how real you are about your faith and your family.

i also have the miss madeline and the miss molly, which i LOVE and will use forever and ever (or at least until my girl gets all pre-teeny on me and protests! but she's not quite 3 so i have a little time!), SO i'd love to give the miss lily a try! love bubble dresses and have never attempted one! :)

Love your blog and really enjoy reading it each time you post. You've written a lot of good posts, but the one with your son behind the armoire was so funny.

Congrats on 300+ posts! I already have the Miss Madeline and would love the Miss Molly.

Jean said...

Hi there! My favorite sewing post was the Easter dresses, and my favorite family post was either the armoire or else the one where the guys had built some bizarre contraption and were riding it down a hill. I love those funny ones.

You already know most about me--homeschooling librarian CA mom into heirloom sewing. Gonna sew that Easter dress for my friend's little girl's baptism!

And I like Miss Molly, please, unless you finish that square-necked one for older girls anytime soon...;)

Stephanie said...

Hi there! I have to say my favorite post is any post that has a video in it so I can hear you and your children talking in your awesome southern slang...miss those good ole southern voices down here in Florida! Keep 'em coming!

I'd love to add the Miss Iris to my collection! :-)

Stephanie said...

Oops, I really meant to say the Miss Lily, not the Miss Iris...sorry!

Meghann said...

I'm fairly new at sewing and was linked to your blog by a friend for the gathering tutorial. And I've been following you ever since!

I have 4 kids, 2 of which are very girly girls. I think I'd like to win the Molly pattern.

Tammy said...

Yay for 300! I "know" you from sewingmamas, but I identify with you since I homeschool my 3 kiddos and my husband is a firefighter.

My favorite post is probably any one with a video - the one of your son with the leaf blower was hilarious!

I also appreciated the post where you had "Praise You in This Storm" by Casting Crowns. It introduced me to my now-favorite Christian band and is now one of my favorite songs.

I'd love the Miss Lily.

I'm pretty new to blogging, my favorite post was the little school room redo under your stairs - I'm going to use the twinkle lights idea over my scrap desk, as soon as the stores begin to carry twinkle lights with white cord anyway! I also loved the video about the cat/mouse and I think a raccoon thrown in there too.
I love all your patterns, I think my girls would have me pick, Miss Madeline.

Amy said...

Samantha, I cannot tell you my favorite post because I just enjoy reading your blog. I started reading after you were a monthly sponsor on SouleMama last fall. I liked reading about your family and watching your pattern business grow but it was your honesty about losing your baby and your willingness to let blog readers into your family that really moved me. I thought about you during that difficult time, admired your strength and courage, and am so looking forward to following your journey through the adoption process and the every day goings on at your home now.

My favorite dress pattern is the Miss Lily.

Take care,

Goosegirl said...

Oh Samantha, a favorite post? Not sure I can pick only 1!

I think my list of favorites must include the video of your son behind the dresser. I still laugh at the thought of it.

I also loved your post showing your new sewing nest. Oh I love it so much.

I most recently reread your post about making the arm sling, and made one myself.

I loved your post talking about all the cousins doing a talent show. It reminded me of doing that as a child with my family.

I was THRILLED when you posted about your adoption plans and continue to pray for you all.

What can I say? I am a fan!

I would love to win the Miss Madeline OR the Miss Molly as I do not have either of them.

Congrats on 300 posts!

Ashley said...

I found your blog via Soule Mama...and I just love it. It just feels like a happy little place to visit. I do wish we could hang out while the kids played in the yard :)

I love all the patters, butthe Miss Lily always catches my eye.

Jessica said...

The slip and was the best, but I also liked the one about your little "nest" that was adorable.

I would want to win the Miss Madeline pattern. Although if I did I would have to put down my camera and fire up my sewing machine which has been neglected for a month or two!

Rebecca said...

I really can't come up with a favorite post - I love them all. You have shared your emotions so beautifully, and shared some really awesome ideas too!

I would love to have the Miss Madeline pattern! You are so generous to give patterns away! Thanks for the chance!

I loved the water slide video.

I'd love the Miss Madeline pattern. :)

My favourite post was when you put up the video of your little girl with the blouse she had made - that lovely lisping little voice was adorable! I have made Miss Madeline, as I think you have seen on my blog, so I would love to try Miss Iris.

I agree with you about the wonderful connections to be made through blogging, and I recently met some local bloggers at a crafty bloggers picnic, which was great! And well done on getting to the 300!

I have two children that I love to sew for. I've been sewing without my mother's help for almost three years now (I sewed a few items growing up, but my mom always did the tricky stuff like zippers for me).

I love the video tutorials you did on crochet back in 2008, they were extremely helpful!

If I were to win, I would choose the Miss Madeline pattern.

Jill said...

Hi Samantha, congratulations on your 300-something's so wonderful to wake up in the morning, sit down with my coffee and get a glimpse into your life. I too wish we could all have the kids play in the backyard while our little community makes me smile to just imagine it. You inspire me to be a better mother and teacher to my children, thank you for all you do.

The pattern I'd like to try is the Miss Madeline.

Actually, I'm fairly new to reading your blog, but I loved the post about your kids' homeschooling space. So inspirational! Just the kind of atmosphere I'll be striving to develop around here as my little ones get bigger and start their more "serious" studies. Congrats on reaching 300 posts! I'd love to win any of your great patterns, but I guess especially the Miss Madeline or Miss Lily, in the small sizes. I hope I win!

Hi Samantha,

This is the first time I've left a comment. I've been following your blog for a little while now. I homeschooled my two girls all the way through school and am so forever blessed to have had that privilege. I had to go to work after the last one graduated from homeschool high school, but my job was discontinued. Money is tight, but I really am enjoying being back at home. It's where I feel that I am meant to be. So, I find I have a little time on my hands. I've decided to start sewing again.
You are so smart to be able to do all that you do. I love your work. God has blessed you with a lot of talent. I don't know which of your posts I liked the best- there are lots of them. Often, I have to get my daughter to enjoy them with me. She loves your kids and what she sees of them. We love the honesty and the openness we see in y'all (yep, I'm a for-real Southerner, and I appreciate your sweet Southern accent), and your willingness to share of yourself and your family. I love the way you honor God in your posts.
Keep on looking for the "old ways" and trust God. Your children- all of them- will thank you for it.
I really like your Miss Lily.

Love you blog. I have enjoyed so many stories. I love all the gooofy adventures you and your family go on and reading about the adventures at your home.
Thanks for sharing your lovely stories and congrats on 300
The patterns i like are the miss madeline and the last skirt you have shown. For the life of me i can't remember the name. That is what 3 little girls does to my brain ;-)

Hello, I come from England and have been enjoying some vicarious southern living via your blog. As an adoptive mama (1 boy 5yo, 1 girl 2yo) I have been enjoying that part of this blog and then the other blog. My little girl gasped over the Miss Molly pattern, so if my name is drawn and postage to the UK is possible, I'd love to make her a pretty Miss Molly!

Angela said...

I would like the Miss Molly pattern if I am chosen. I purchased the Miss Madeline pattern last month and have made 2 dresses for my nieces and then they wanted matching dresses for their American Girl dolls. I 'downsized' your pattern to the AG girl size and made two doll dresses. The pattern is my favorite because it is so easy and quick. I love your blog also!

Jody said...

Samantha, I so enjoy your blog and I wanted you to know that. I check it every day. I appreciate so much your posts about miscarriage. I have also lost babies this way and know the heart ache that it brings. Thank you so much for being open about your pain and sadness.

I would love to have the Miss Molly pattern. So cute. jjrenn at sbcglobal dot net

I love the miss molly pattern. I was just admiring it the other day when I came across your blog (I believe through MADE's blog). Great stuff!

Sarah H. said...

I loved when you blogged about working on a new pattern called "Miss Jane". I struggle sometimes finding age appropriate clothing for my 9 yr old while allowing her to pick her own style. I am lucky, though, we always find (or make!) something that suits both our needs. It was just one of those moments that I could relate with you.

We already have the Miss Madeline and Miss Lily patterns (in both sizes :o) ). I would love to try the Miss Molly pattern, too.

Meridith S. said...

Congratulations! I absolutely loved the armoire video and more recently the raccoon video. I can tell by them both that your family has a lot of fun together!

I would love the Miss Madeline pattern as the sizes are a bit larger and my sweet little girls are getting so big so fast!

Erin said...

I loved the first time I saw the cute polka-dotted Miss Lily! I fell in love with it immediately and got it the first chance we had to order!! I would love to add Miss Iris to my collection! (I have all your other ones!)

I love the funny videos of your kids. They always make me laugh. I would love to win the Miss Molly pattern. I bought the Miss Lily back at Easter time and LOVE it.

Have a great day!

I am not sure if I have commented before. But I love your blog and have been a "fan" for some time now. I am guilty of not leaving comments on the more popular blogs, because I tend to think they get enough comments and mine won't matter in the mess of them. Pitiful I know!

A little about me, well, I adore your patterns and enjoy being a "follower". I am mom to two, one boy, one girl. I have a sewing machine, barely used because it still intimidates me! I've made my daughter a few skirts and have started a quilt top for her too. I need to pull the machine out of it's box (we moved a month ago) and finish that quilt! I'm also a procrastinator. ;) Breaking that habit is really hard! I love to sew and your Miss Madeline and Miss Lily patterns are my very favorites (though I love the others too!). So in the small chance that I'd win you'd have to choose which pattern to send me, cuz I can't pick.

Congratulations on 300+ posts! Wow!

My favorite pattern is Miss Madeline. I just started reading your blog a few days ago because I saw it linked on another sewing blog (I can't being to remember the rabbit trail there!). I have just been learning better sewing techniques and my mother taught me to smock this summer. It's a nice creative outlet and will hopefully make for some sweet outfits for my three children (3 1/2 year old girl, 2 year old boy, 8 month old girl).

Congratulations on your 300th post!

Choosing a favorite post is hard. I've been following your blog for a good while now, and I like that you are so real when you post. I love the work you do, and your pattern designs are lovely. My favorite is Miss Madeline.

Samantha, My 1st ever sewing project was Miss Madeline & I have been hooked (addicted seems a bit too strong, but may be more accurate)! Love your blog & your pattern. I'm so ready to tackle Miss Lily! Really, I just bought 15 yards of $1/yard fabric at Walmart...I need a new project. (:

I've never left you a comment before, but I check your blog at least once a week. I love your blog because I also love to sew, love the Lord, have experienced heart breaking loss and am following God's call for me to homeschool. I'd say we have a little in common.

I'd love Miss Molly.

Amanda said...

I started following you when you were posting about adoption. I would have to say follow you during that time was my favorite; I could always feel your passion for it. That's what drew me in. I hope to adopt some day, God willing.
I think I would want to win the Miss Iris skirt. I think... lol.
Thank you for sharing your creations with us. Blessings to you!

Brenda said...

Do we really have to pick a favorite? When I stumbled across your blog (I don't even remember how), I immediately added it to my favorites and had to read ALL your old posts, which took awhile. One of the first ones that made me laugh was your funny boy behind the armoire. Now even though you have no idea who I am (does that make me a spy), I feel such a closeness to you and your family. You are an incredible witness of Jesus' love and power in your lives and just a stinking cute mommy. Thanks for your honesty and all the other fun peaks into your life.

I would love to win the Miss Madeline!

Hi there! I'm a mum of two, homeschooler and, at present, on an adventure with my lovely family in Australia (we're originally from the UK). I have recently started sewing for my little girl and have discovered that I love it! I would be thrilled to make something from one of your patterns(they are all so pretty!!)..... I think Miss Madeline is my favourite (today anyway!)

Hey! I love your tutorials! I have my sewing machine in my closet to keep it away from little helpers and I have my husbands laptop right beside it! It is like a sewing class anytime! I like the miss molly pattern. Congrats on the 300! said...

I love your pattern posts. I just found your blog (Freckled Hen). Beautiful, inspiring work.

Beach Mama said...

I don't really remember a specific post in as much as just the "companionship" of your posts. Does that make sense??? What I mean to say is, we share much in common (on many levels) and as a friend I enjoy your company when I am reading your posts.

Your blog was the first
"pattern/sewing" blog that I came to and you have inspired me to sew again. I have been making dolls and clothes for my girls this summer and enjoying it!

Should I be selected to win one of your patterns, I would choose Miss Madeline (6 months-4 years).

Happy 300th post!

Ann said...

Hi Samantha, I just stumbled across your blog about two months ago, in a link from Sewing Mamas. I haven't even had a chance to try a pattern yet (hubs is unemployed, so no patterns for me). But the post that kept me coming back to your blog (and eventually, patterns) is the one I read about your miscarriages.

I've had three of them, five babies in total. And finally, after four years and forty grand, I got my little girl (after a short and difficult pregnancy.) And a reason to sew pretty dresses.

Your post struck a chord for me - and from the comments, many others.

So, thanks! Can't wait for hubby to get a job so I can buy 'pitty dess' patterns (my toddler's term).

Sarah said...

I have enjoyed reading your blog for some time now! I love the beautiful things you sew for your daughters, and am especially fond of the Miss Madeline pattern! The hillbilly posts also crack me up!

My favorite is the one where you were inspired by the chasing fireflies dress and made a less fruffy one. I'm so inspired (aka jealous) of your talent. I would love the Miss Madeline.
Thanks for all the inspiration and laughs.

I love reading your blog and found your tutorial on how you do gathering to be really helpful.
I also love your summer posts - given that we are in the middle of winter here in Australia when you have your summer holidays it's lovely to read of sunny activities.

I have your Miss Madeline in the smaller sizes but would love to win it in the larger sizes to fit my ever growing brood of three girls.
Thanks for the chance to win.

Goodmorning Samantha,
My fav posting was the hillbilly jacuzzi. I have been tempted to put bubble bath in my daughter's wading pool and have her squeaky clean befor she comes into the house. I'm glad you guys are adopting, some kid is going to be very lucky. My favorite pattern is Miss Madeline.

Hello. My favorite part about your posts are seeing pictures of your children playing outside. What a beautiful place you live in and how fortunate they are to grow up in the beauty of the outdoors!

I adore your new bubble skirt pattern. How happy I am you make it all the way up to size 16. I have 3 little girls who surely could use a couple bubble skirts each! I hope you keep writing patterns & continue posting for at-least another 300. Congratulations!
