Holla!

This last week I have been so still. SO STILL. There were days that I didn't even see my kitchen! I mean I didn't MOVE. Yesterday was doctor day, and guess what? NO CHANGE!!!! Holla! Woot woot! My doctor said, and I quote "Alright hippie mama, you just might make it to 37 weeks!" If I could have done a happy dance I would have, but I'm not moving! The kids always ask Claire "Can I get a holla?!" and she says "Holla! Then they ask "Can I get a woot woot!?" and she raises her little hands and says "Woot! Woot!" That's what mama is doing today! I'm just starting to feel so free and the stress of this pregnancy is melting off as we move forward one day at a time. The NICU is becoming a smaller possibility every minute! My doctor had a labor and delivery nurse shadowing him yesterday and as she listened in I said "Ahhh! If I can just get to 36 weeks and 3 days I will be happy. The difference in the babies are like night and day. It's literally the difference in being able to nurse right away or having to spend the first month teaching a baby to eat." The nurse said "Girl, I need you to come talk to some of these young mamas that are begging to be induced weeks early!" I wish I could!

(I found it near impossible to take an above picture of these things without my belly getting in the way! And since I can't be up for too long I just embraced the bump and let it show. So there ya have it.)

It's no secret that the last few weeks have been stressful, emotional, and crazy. Well, God sent plenty of sweetness my way to keep me going! One of my precious friends, a blog reader, asked last week for my address and this weekend I got this.....Melissa made me an adorable bag, a sweet little banner (eek!) and sent some awesome vintage sewing supplies! How sweet is that? My friends and family have brought meals and took care of us by taking kids here and there. My kids have taken good care of me. My husband brought me those beautiful flowers you see there along with chocolate, and he cooks and cleans while he isn't working. I also got a load of sweet emails, comments, and phone calls from friends who are praying and asking about us. Oh, and when I was a little stressed about not having a birth plan already done, Stefanie (another blog buddy from far away) even sent me hers to tweak! (I'm going to work on that tonight!) I feel so blessed, beyond blessed! I want to thank every single one of you for caring about this sweet babe, my family, and me. It has meant so much to us. Thank you!
So now you may be wondering what I'm going to do with that super awesome bag.... Well I plan to pack in a few labor essentials and throw it in my purse for delivery day. :) Isn't it going to be perfect? Usually only my purse and camera bag make it into the hospital room before delivery, so this is going to come in handy.

I've got my list of things to go in it ready. The kids are helping me gather the last of our things tonight. Am I missing anything? xo, Sam

Hi Sam,
I check your blog everyday when I can and ask Shell when you don't write. It was so good to pull this up today and to realize you are still "with child"!!I think I am holding my breath between posts but that's ok, I am not ready to exhale yet so you just hang in there.

Peace - Pegi Gilmore

The prayers are flying out to you on the wind that blows leftover from hurricane Sandy. I am so happy that the stress is leaving the the calm has descended. Keep cool girl! God bless you both and keep you.

Don't forget to bring honey sticks or something similar for a boost of energy! There's only about a teaspoon or so, not enough to vomit, so there's no danger, and it makes a huge difference in labor when you don't have a starving mama.

Like Pegi said, I get a little tense between posts but am excited that you are still at home=) I wasn't sure what to send at first and then I though, "Well, what would I want?" As you said before - crafty friends are easy. So I sent just what I would have liked.=) I'm so glad you are enjoying the bag.

Go Team Caffee! Wooo! You are doing such a fabulous job. If I'm remembering right, you will be 36 weeks on Friday, and then a week after that. . .full term! Less than 10 days until that magic 37. Sometimes "Be still, and know that I am God" needs to be taken literally. :)

Hey Samantha, I found your blog through Pinterest - the post about the triple bunk beds. I loved those and decided to look around. You have an amazing blog! I look forward to adding you to my list of favorites. :) We have 3 boys (5 yrs, 3.5 yrs, and 9 mo) so we would love to have them share a room; because we think it would be fun for them (they are very close) and we plan to have more babies and will need a nursery again. Thank you for sharing your "boys dorm" and "girls dorm" ideas - we loved them! I also just wanted to offer some encouragement. From your most recent post it looks like you are trying to avoid labor to make it full term - I can totally relate! I have experienced pre-term labor with all 3 pregnancies. Our oldest I made it full term to 39 weeks. Our second I went into labor the first time at 23 weeks - yikes! I ended up making it to 33 weeks and 5 days and was able to have him vbac (because he was small - 5 lb 4 oz) and he stayed in the hospital only 11 days! He was in the intermediate nursery, he didn't even require NICU. Our third I used progesterone shots weekly and made it to 35 wks 5 days. He came home at 3 days old with me, and was treated like a full term baby as far as nursery etc. I just wanted to offer a little hope that pre-term doesn't have to mean NICU and scary (although obviously sometimes it does mean those things I understand). We have been so blessed, and praying for your healthy pregnancy and a full term healthy delivery! God bless you and your family and thank you for sharing the triple bunks that lead me to your beautiful blog!

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We
