He's got this!

In the last two or three days I'm feeling like myself again! Woot woot! I can't say that things have really turned around much, but I've definitely adjusted to our new normal for now, and I'm happy! It's actually been a crazy week but we were able to roll with the punches.

I went to the doctor this week and baby is doing great, but mama is struggling. I was hoping to get better news, but I knew something was different. I'm dilated now so I've got to be extra extra careful. I'm shooting for 6 more weeks and I'm praying I make it!

I had to take my sweet little man, Timothy, to the doctor yesterday. Poor boy, he has struggled with a really junky cough for almost two weeks now and Tuesday he started running a fever and acting tired. You know what it means when an eight year old boy wants to take a nap! They are SICK! He had a nasty respiratory infection and had to get a couple of shots. We also had to drag his old nebulizer machine out of the attic for breathing treatments every 6 hours. That sounds bad, but it's a blessing to us!! Do you know that that machine sat by my bed for almost three years when my boy was little? We haven't used it again since he was 3 or 4 years old. He had round the clock treatments back then during the winter months and I carried around an inhaler in my purse for emergencies. His rough start in the NICU (as a 35 1/2 week "lazy white boy") followed him for years but I am so thankful that it didn't stick!! He is one healthy boy now! It has been a good reminder of God's grace. You see the doctor thought that he might likely always struggle with "weak lungs" but God had another plan. :)

That very story gives me hope for this new babe. Even if my body doesn't cooperate, or if my 37 week goal is still too early for this babe, my God has big plans! He's got it all under control. Now doesn't that sound good? That my friends is a very comforting thought. He's got this, so I can just let go. :)

Tim is having a little fun with this too, now that those two shots are over with.

He is receiving tip-top medical care (and entertainment) from his three little nurses. Too sweet! Now that makes mama's heart smile!

He happens to think that he looks pretty stinkin' awesome in this mask too. Only and eight year old boy!

His smallest nurse wasn't so sure about that thing! Look at that face! :) And that cracks us all up! She stood in front of him for several minutes during the first treatment and waved and said "Hey!" like she wasn't sue he could still see her. Then when she crawled up next to him he got this "You look like you've grown another head" look. These kids are too much fun! xo, Sam

I'm guessing that since you like cloth diapers and homeschooling and the like that you've checked out the forum on mothering dot com and or DrMomma dot org, right? Those are two good sites I like to visit. Another one is diaper swappers.
I enjoyed reading your blog and I wanted to ask if you had given much thought to keeping the new baby intact (not circumcised) if it's a boy? I don't know if you circumcised your oldest son but even if he is, plenty of families have sons that do not match. Unfortunately, I did not know the complications of circ before my oldest was born (despite researching just about everything else regarding birth and parenting). It did not go well, at all. We left my youngest intact and he's never had any issues. The New Testament even says that Christians aren't required to circ, which was a comfort for me. So please look into it if you haven't already.
Blessings to you and your lovely family. Can't wait to read about your newest addition. Best wishes!

I had the "pleasure" of watching a circumcision in nursing school. That's all it took. My baby boy WAS NOT circumcised. Back then it was unheard of (especially in the south) to not have your son circumcised, but I'm glad that it's becoming "the thing" now to leave boys "intact". I honestly just didn't tell anyone if he was or wasn't and it was never a big deal. I mean who cares? But I'm still happy with my decision. It has honestly been one of the most "uneventful" decisions that I've ever made as a mom. Peace of mind, but no flack because nobody ever really knew, no complications to deal with....I wish all decisions as a new mom could have been that easy! LOL!

Your post sounds like one of my favorite sayings that I even have taped to my computer screen.

"Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead, tell the storm how big your God is!"

God already knows your storm. He is right there with you in it and he will protect you.

I am praying for you and your family. Hope to see you one day soon. I miss seeing all of you girls playing at Shell's when you where young.

GOd bless

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We ...

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I ...

The Family Closet

It's another gray day so the pictures aren't great, but I wanted to get these posted since I have a few minutes. The family closet has changed my life people!! It has taken my most overwhelming chore from crazy to totally doable. We had to start in the laundry room because that is were most of this process starts. These storage racks went on sale for 69$ right after Christmas and we got 3. We also got several of the $3.50 Steralite clothes baskets because they fit side by side perfectly. In the laundry room I now have baskets labeled (Whites, Towels, Darks, Reds & Purples -we have a lot of those!) to separate clothes into, baskets marked "Clean" for clean clothes, a place for storage (extra dish cloths, table cloths, socks that need a mate). The laundry room is much less intimidating now, I actually like going in there! I also now have room for my drying rack in here! I painted a huge henna design on the wall to pretty it up a bit. :) The Caffee sign ...
