I've been to fabric heaven! Twice!

 The $2.50-$3 room.

 The $4 room with LOADS of Civil War reproduction fabrics.
 The $3 room.
 Another $3-$4 room.

Six rooms of fabric priced at $2.50-$4 a yard, 18 rooms of quilts, the sweetest little old man EVER, and all that fabric in the picture above for $208. That's 65 yards of fabric for $208. UNBELIEVABLE! The last time I went to see him was about three years ago. Ben and I went again a couple of weeks ago and then today I took my Mom, Mom-in-law, sis-in-law, and (other mama) Shell back for a ladies day out! We had so much fun! When Ben and I went I posted on Facebook that I had been and gave his address, then when we were there today I met a couple of ladies who had seen that post and went to visit him! YAY! If you are interested in taking a little trip to see him DO IT! Tell him that the pattern maker from Birmingham sent you! He is an elderly man who runs this out of his home, so if you plan a trip call first and make sure he will be there for the day. Here is his information:

Samantha I am so envious of your choice of fabrics and yarn around your house - where I live in Australia there is little choice for either! I am tempted to try buying yarn online but I really like to feel it to make sure it's not "scratchy" I think I need a road trip to the earthy parts of my state to find anything crafty! I really enjoy reading your blog your family seems so lovely

last night I got a text from grand babe's mommy (otherwise known as my daughter) that said " Mother! Drop whatever you are doing and check The Handmade Dress's latest blog post!" My first thought was adoption related :-) I can't believe this! I live right down the road from Booneville. We are just down from the Brice's Crossroads Battlefield. I gotta check this out- Mimi's babes NEED new duds!

This brought back memories of going with my mom to "Mr. Edward's Garage" - a little old man in CA who ran a fabric shop out of his garage. That was 20 years ago. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane!

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. The Family Closet

It's another gray day so the pictures aren't great, but I wanted to get these posted since I have a few minutes. The family closet has changed my life people!! It has taken my most overwhelming chore from crazy to totally doable. We had to start in the laundry room because that is were most of this process starts. These storage racks went on sale for 69$ right after Christmas and we got 3. We also got several of the $3.50 Steralite clothes baskets because they fit side by side perfectly. In the laundry room I now have baskets labeled (Whites, Towels, Darks, Reds & Purples -we have a lot of those!) to separate clothes into, baskets marked "Clean" for clean clothes, a place for storage (extra dish cloths, table cloths, socks that need a mate). The laundry room is much less intimidating now, I actually like going in there! I also now have room for my drying rack in here! I painted a huge henna design on the wall to pretty it up a bit. :) The Caffee sign ...
