One day, THREE knit shops!

(Ben brought me the flowers the day he left...*love*)
Today my sis and I hit all of the local knit shops. Every shop within an hour of  home, two of them we have never been to before! Our sweet parents, Nanna and Papa, kept the eight monkeys for us. OH MY GOODNESS we had so much fun!

This is what I came home with. First I'll tell you about the Berrocco Comfort DK yarn, oh my goodness this yarn is so soft and perfect for babies, it is self striping in the most adorable colors, AND with the purchase I got the hat pattern for FREE. They had a sample knit up in the shop and it was too cute. A handmade baby gift for $2 or less? Yes please! Then I got this knit magazine because it had loads of beautiful projects in it for a great price. I'm considering getting a subscription to a knit magazine, what's your favorite? I also bought my very first bottle of Eucalan in the lavender scent, I have heard very good things about this wool wash. Lastly, I got these 9" circular needles. Who didn't tell me that they had 9" circulars??? Oh my goodness! These things could change my life! My hope is that they will help me not hate sleeves! And I have really wanted to try sock knitting, but I've been afraid to because I hate sleeves too much, THIS may be the answer! Have any of you ever tried these before?

Today was such a good day. I even got a nap when we got home....so perfect. :) I love my Mama and Daddy, Rae and I really needed today. Our husbands have been in the mountains since Wednesday and they come back home tomorrow. I can't wait! xo, Sam

PS. For those local gals who may want to visit the shops we went to, they were (our favorite) In the Making, and the new to us shops Memory Hagler Knitting and Yarns Downtown.

Oh I love your goodies Sam!

I have a tiny circular bought years ago when I wanted to learn to knit socks. I never use it because the needles are so tiny/short on them they make my hands hurt. I much prefer dpns but that is just me. :)

I don't subscribe to any knit magazines, I use Ravelry a lot though!

I am knitting my first pair of socks---it is so fun! The book "Getting Started Knitting Socks" by Ann Budd is an excellent beginners guide. Her directions use double pointed needles. At amazon.com I found a 15 size pack (5 needles per size) of double pointed needles for $20. Happy knitting!

My mom knitted sweater for my brother and I every year when I was a child. It's really warm, and knitted in my mom's love.

I have a new grandaughter and I'm looking for a knitting pattern like the shrug/sweater you made. Where would I find one?

I get all of my patterns on Ravelry, it's a knitting website. I'm not quite sure which one you like, but if you can tell me the color or post it's in, I can give you a link to the pattern. :)
