Color Play
As I was making the very last sample of Miss Violet today, and I was so inspired by the way these colors came together with my nail color. It got me thinking that I may need to try bright yellow lazy daisies in between the smocking pleats, or maybe a little seed bead (as suggested by Cindy on the phone the other day). What other tiny embellishments could be added between the pleats? Do you have any ideas you would like to share? xo, Sam

Need colour inspiration for bright bold deliciousness, check out Kate Spade. She's the reason i can happily wear a yellow top, red cardigan, jeans & green ballet flats without feeling like a clown.
Beautiful work, just gorgeous, love Posie
Tiny buttons
Cast on flowers
Bullion or silk ribbon rose/buds
I'm wondering how a hand dyed multi colored floss would work with the smocking? Have you seen those dye it yourself floss kits in the store? So tempting! :)
I thought the same thing, but Weeks floss does bleed when washed, although beautiful. Perhaps another brand. I can see each smocking spot in a dfferent, but complimentary color, faux polka dots maybe?
Is there a tutorial for the simple smocking that you did on Miss Aprils dress? Love it and it really ups the outfit.
Sorry...Miss Violets...can you tell we need to get power back on the East coast from Irene lol.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am making a chemise for a Plus Size Grandmother. I wanted to put something on it that would make it look pretty. I have never done smocking and wanted to do it by hand. You have answered my questions. I figured I would start simple at first.
You should put yellow lace around the bottom and around the sleeves
