While we are on the subject of uniforms...

(This picture has nothing to do with this, but you know me and my posting without a picture phobia....so here's another "me and my camera" shot that was already on my computer.)

I should make you feel a little better about yourself.... my DEAR PRECIOUS SISTER entered my story for the TLC TV show "What NOT to wear" last year! Can you believe that? She didn't tell me for a while, but then one night when I was leaving her house she gave me that little "tidbit" as I was walking out the door. And my mom gets so sick of seeing me in the same clothes all the time that she will randomly give me a new shirt, jeans, or shoes. She once gave me a pair of shoes under the condition that I had to throw the old ones away so that she would never have to see them again. I guess you could say I'm sorta the family style outcast, who happens to designs children's clothes that people like....weird huh? I think the stuff I have isn't so bad, I mean everyone likes jeans and most of my t shirts are cute, but what gets them is the fact that I have the same 3-4 outfits that I wear over and over. I don't know why I do that really, I just really like my comfy clothes and I don't like shopping or trying on new stuff. LOL! So there it is...I've come clean!

Eh, think how much money you save, which can then be spent on fabric! Come on, we both know what's really important here. :D

You sound just like me! My sister has asked me if I would kill her if she nominated me for What Not to Wear. I too have no clothes. My husband has 3 times as much on his side of the closet as I do mine. :P but people love the things I sew! Lol!

You are making me feel so much better! I mean I love style, I know what looks fabulous but own nothing fabulous myself! I actually where the SAME pair of jeans almost every day...so sad! And not only that, they are Walmart jeans! And yes, just like the previous post, fabric is all I want anyway!

Oh you're so pretty in real life! I love your strawberry red hair! Wear what makes you happy, what makes you comfortable, I like to call us dumpy frumpy moms with style!

I have tons of shirts that I've sewn for myself, but I still only wear about 4-5 of them. They're my favorites, and I can't just leave them hanging up for too long or else they'll feel unloved. ;0)

Amen. You are singing to the choir regarding the whole Mom trying to dress you to well....please herself. Have the same High-maintance issue here. Glad to hear I'm not alone

You're not alone! There's nothing like jeans. I don't think just cause we're casual we are frumpy...on the contrary, we're ready-for-action, all-weather and non-comformist mums who don't feel that our identity needs to be in vogue with Vogue. I like this post-consumerist stage of my life...back in my lady-in-waiting days I felt insecure without lipstick. So glad I wisened up!

PS Agree with everyone else that you are very pretty.

You're just being a good steward of what God has given you by not spending more on unnecessary clothes! :)

I hate shopping for clothes, trying them on and I'd rather shop for other things :)

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We ...

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I ...

The Family Closet

It's another gray day so the pictures aren't great, but I wanted to get these posted since I have a few minutes. The family closet has changed my life people!! It has taken my most overwhelming chore from crazy to totally doable. We had to start in the laundry room because that is were most of this process starts. These storage racks went on sale for 69$ right after Christmas and we got 3. We also got several of the $3.50 Steralite clothes baskets because they fit side by side perfectly. In the laundry room I now have baskets labeled (Whites, Towels, Darks, Reds & Purples -we have a lot of those!) to separate clothes into, baskets marked "Clean" for clean clothes, a place for storage (extra dish cloths, table cloths, socks that need a mate). The laundry room is much less intimidating now, I actually like going in there! I also now have room for my drying rack in here! I painted a huge henna design on the wall to pretty it up a bit. :) The Caffee sign ...
