My crazy kids and their lizard obsession.

I should start by saying that Fall in Alabama is prime lizard catching season. It's warm so the lizards are still out, but it's cool enough that they are pretty slow so that the kids can catch them, and that's good news to the Caffee children. You see the Caffee children will get up and get all of their school work done early (without complaints) just to get outside to catch lizards (and whatever else that they may come across). These crazy kids have caught up to 34 lizards in one day, they affectionately refer to that day (often) as "The day we caught THIRTY FOUR lizards". LOL!

They head out early with a five gallon bucket and start their day. They each have their own job during lizard catching season too- I'm tellin ya, these kids are serious, you would think they were getting paid $5 a lizard by the way they act. LOL! Tim is the lizard finder, Molly said he is the best "finder"; Molly is the actual lizard catcher, because she is the fastest; and Maddie is the lizard holder, think, nursery worker. (What with the hard-core lizard catching and the five gallon bucket, I think this post deserves to be filed under the "Confessions of a Hillbilly category".)

I asked Molly "You only catch the green lizards right?" and she replied, very seriously and emphasising with her hand on each word, "We will catch any kind of lizard... as long as it's not poisonous".

They also catch the occasional frog (above) or turtle too, but lizards are their favorite.

On one fine lizard catching day, I was happily working in my loft and talking on the phone to a friend, when Molly ran up the stairs screaming and laughing with a lizard hanging off of her nose! She said that Tim stuck the lizard on her nose while it's mouth was open. Silly boy. Well I grabbed the camera, took a few good pictures for her future husband, and promptly told her that she was on her own getting that lizard off of her nose. LOL! Mama don't do lizards. She eventually pried it off and let it go along with the rest of the the day's catch, feeling that it had been tortured enough for one day, and lived to continue her lizard catching career the very next day. So there is our lizard story...I hope you enjoyed it as much as these crazy kids did!

Next up, my new bag! I'm going to get Molly to take pictures of me wearing it today, this should be fun!

Oh how I wish we lived in the country so my kids could have these kind of adventures. For now my kids' country adventures are limited to times we get to go to Nana and Papa's house.

Oh, and I love that you took pictures for "her future husband". lol

I love lizards. I may have to do a post about the one my students caught and took care of for a whole school year.

Hilarious!!
We have lizards here too but neither of my girls has ever caught 34! Your kids have to go into the lizard catching business for sure. Maybe a reality show or something! Heehee!!!

And, for the record, I would totally freak out if I had a lizard on my nose.

You guys crack me up! Love the lizard on the nose...and her totally joyful smile in the process! The team work of your kids in catching them is great...I love that everyone has their own responsibility...even the "little sister!" My kids loved this post.

Can my boys come live with you? LOL When we're on vacation and headed south-they can't wait until we spot the first lizard on a bush or tree trunk. The saddest day of Bean's life was the day he was so excited about seeing a lizard in the grocery store, he jumped out of the cart to catch it...smack dab onto the very same lizard. Heartache all around!

Thanks for such a great smile to end the evening!

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We ...

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I ...

The Family Closet

It's another gray day so the pictures aren't great, but I wanted to get these posted since I have a few minutes. The family closet has changed my life people!! It has taken my most overwhelming chore from crazy to totally doable. We had to start in the laundry room because that is were most of this process starts. These storage racks went on sale for 69$ right after Christmas and we got 3. We also got several of the $3.50 Steralite clothes baskets because they fit side by side perfectly. In the laundry room I now have baskets labeled (Whites, Towels, Darks, Reds & Purples -we have a lot of those!) to separate clothes into, baskets marked "Clean" for clean clothes, a place for storage (extra dish cloths, table cloths, socks that need a mate). The laundry room is much less intimidating now, I actually like going in there! I also now have room for my drying rack in here! I painted a huge henna design on the wall to pretty it up a bit. :) The Caffee sign ...
