Sometimes I feel like I know my readers because I have so many sweet people that comment regularly; but then I check out my stats and I see that I have hundreds of people coming through every day. Really? Are that many people interested in my little world? I'm sure at least half of those people come here on accident! LOL! They have no idea what they are getting into!
For the last few days I have been trying to imagine what you are like, those of you that really read what I write. Sorry about that by the way, I wish I could offer you all better grammar, punctuation, and content! LOL! I also have people I know in real life that tell me they read my blog. A lot of the time I am surprised and it makes me wonder who else reads that I know in real life? So can we play a little game? I would like for everyone (please, if you have the time) to comment and tell me a little about yourself. If you know me in real life speak up! I will be commenting in the comment section of this post. I'm so excited! I can't wait to get to know you!
Now let me tell you heirloom sewing folk about this dress. I made it for Maddie to wear to a wedding. The yoke has pulled thread work that I just love! Crochet insertion (the pattern will be in my second book), with silk satin ribbon running through. I really like the lacy look of this insertion. The fabric is a peachy pink colored voile. The skirt has six pleats in the center and gathers on the sides.

The dress is stunning. Did you do that little criss-cross pattern in the yoke as well? I've always wondered how that is done.
I haven't had much time for sewing lately and my girls have been wanting some things made. I have left my blog by the wayside to devote a little more time to crafting and home projects.

I love your blog! You are so much fun! The pattern in the yoke is called pulled thread work. You literally pull threads out of the fabric in the pattern of your choice, then you go back and bind the threads that are left. You are left with that look, kind of like entredeux.

I found your blog about a month ago by Google-ing 'handmade dresses'. I'm newly married and want to learn to sew my own clothing (I really hate most of what I find in stores). I love all your stories about your family. My husband and I don't live near family so it's nice to see a family with little kids go about daily life, even if it is just bits and pieces. You just do what you have to do. That's how I survive! When I had just one, one seemed like a lot. Then when I had two and someone would keep one for the day, one child seemed like a dream! Now that I have three, I am so used to being with them that when I don't have kids I feel lost. If someone keeps just one I feel like I'm missing someone and I'm constantly looking around for that one child. I think you just get used to it after a while. LOL!

I think I came to your blog through the MP message board a while ago. I live in Maryland, have 2 daughters 17 and 20. I sewed for them when they were little, but not as much lately. Although, if I had a dime for every dance/prom dress I've hemmed of theirs or their friends I'd be a millionaire! I have 3 waiting now. I tease them that I want granddaughters to sew for now that I have more time.(But not in too much of a hurry) I love heirloom sewing, and since I work part time in a Christian Book and Gift store, I sell Christening gowns there occaisionally. I love your blog, your southern accent, and how you are so easy going with your kids. What memories they will have!
