Silliness

So, my kids have found a new use for VHS tapes: use them as bricks to sharpen their castle and tower making skills. When they got so high that they couldn't reach the top anymore, Dad stepped in and helped them finish.

Then he did a little trick of his own. I love being married to this big kid!

I took this last week while they were watching cartoons. I'm going to be sad when they don't suck their thumbs anymore. I guess they will have to stop someday, but I just need a little more time!

Our creek has water again! I think we are finally almost caught up on rain for the year. I haven't heard much about our water shortage lately on the news. We've been walking to the creek a couple of times a week now to see the waterfall and the beaver dam. Last week we found fossils on the bank! They loved learning what fossils were and where they came from.

Isn't that pretty. This is our shell fossil, we also found a leaf and a bug.

I will be having surgery in the next couple of weeks. It's an exploratory surgery. I know that sounds crazy, but this is the reason: My kidneys are inflamed (bigger than they should be), and the tests are not clear about why, so it is time to take the next step to figure out what's wrong. I have tried all the medicines and the ones that I am not allergic to just don't seem to help, so I am ready! They said that if they find anything, they will more than likely be able to fix it that day (they suspect some kind of blockage). It has not been scheduled yet but I know it will be soon. I'll try to update you after surgery as soon as I can but of course I will be down for a few days. I am sure I will post a couple more times before surgery, but just in case I just wanted you to know where I've been. ~xoxox, Samantha

PS. I will still be posting my random things next week!

I'll be praying for you and that they will figure out the cause. Also...that's a good idea for old video tapes. :D

I had a thumb sucker. She stopped cold turkey at 4 after the dentist told her to. She is extraordinarily obedient. I love the pictures I have of her. She had her blankie up by he nose and was sucking her thumb while rubbing her nose with the loose threads of the blankie.

I love the VHS tower. Javier got rid of all of ours a few years ago.

Good luck on your surgery. I will be thinking about you and sending prayers your way.

Great idea for the tapes, we will have to dig ours out of the box in storage. Fun family night idea! I'm glad you are having the surgery and hope they can solve the infection problem. I can't imagine what you have been going through all this time! I will be praying for you.

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We
