Molly's Easter dress.

Easter was beautiful! It was a little cold and windy, but they let me get a couple of shots without sweaters. I have more pictures and a funny video that I'll post later, but now I will tell you about Molly's Easter dress.

It all started when I found this collar at an antique store, it was dark beige and yellowish with off white pearls. I immediately thought that it would make a beautiful round yoke dress. I loved the design but not the color, so I made another one a little longer and in white thread (size 10 perle cotton) with off white pearls. After I had my reproduction made to the size I wanted, I decided to soak the original in Cascade (yes the dishwasher stuff), and it turned out brighter than the one I had made! So now I have a collar that I can use on a dress for Maddie, that makes me so happy!

I love the way it turned out! Thank you all for voting for the growth pleats, I am so glad you talked me into it. Molly's dress was the same pink linen batiste, the same thread, and I sewed growth pleats in hers too; but I feel like they were still totally different. I like to make the girls dresses that coordinate but don't match. That way Maddie doesn't grow into the same set of dresses she just grew out of. Does that make sense? Here's a close up of the dress on. So was it what you expected? So many of you said you couldn't wait to see it that I felt a little pressured. LOL! I wondered if it would be good enough after all this waiting! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday. You are going to love my story and video of our hillbilly Easter. We so trashy! LOL!

Those dresses are wonderful! Hey, could you do a tutorial on growth pleats, please?!?! With my rapidly growing girls that would be wonderful to know how to make them! Molly's sweater is pretty, too. Love that detail work.

As usual, your work is GORGEOUS!
What I admire is how you can create these dresses without a pattern, something I would never attempt. And I love LOVE how the kids always look so happy and proud to be wearing mama's creations. Isn't that the best feeling?

OMIGAWSH!!! Molly's dress is BEAUTIFUL!!! I love Maddies' but LOOOOVE Molly's. SO! Now get busy Mama - me want a pattern!! Did you line the crocheted 'collar'? Do you think the collar alone would not be sturdy enough to support the Bishop dress? I'm thinking the lace alone with fabric would be such a cute sundress??? If you think it would work? And I love that linen batiste and found some at princess.com and not too $$ either! I think some will be joining my stash SOON!

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! The Family Closet

It's another gray day so the pictures aren't great, but I wanted to get these posted since I have a few minutes. The family closet has changed my life people!! It has taken my most overwhelming chore from crazy to totally doable. We had to start in the laundry room because that is were most of this process starts. These storage racks went on sale for 69$ right after Christmas and we got 3. We also got several of the $3.50 Steralite clothes baskets because they fit side by side perfectly. In the laundry room I now have baskets labeled (Whites, Towels, Darks, Reds & Purples -we have a lot of those!) to separate clothes into, baskets marked "Clean" for clean clothes, a place for storage (extra dish cloths, table cloths, socks that need a mate). The laundry room is much less intimidating now, I actually like going in there! I also now have room for my drying rack in here!
