My ladies.

Today was a big day in the Caffee family. Today was the day we dedicated our little miracles (my nieces), Lily and Iris. Can you believe how big they are getting? I'm sorry I don't have a better picture but with the fluorescent lights and having to work from the first row, this was the best I could do. I am still amazed at what God has given us in these little angels.
Today was also the day that Molly and Madeline got to wear their bonnets that Molly has been BEGGING for. She said she wants to look like a little Amish girl (we visit Amish country a few times a year and she loves the little girls bonnets). I loved them!!! My girls looked soooo sweet in them! There's something so innocent about a little white bonnet. I think this could be my new obsession. Don't you think every little girl needs a bonnet, heirloom dress and dress coat, and a pretty petticoat. mmmmm....... I just can't get enough! The bonnets are pintucked, white, batiste with entredeux and hand crochet lace around the face. I was thinking of making a couple more and selling them in my Etsy shop. What do you think, and how much should they cost? After church I got to work on a scarflette that has been in my head ever since I got this yummy yarn here. This is kettle dyed, 100% wool, hand spun yarn, in a jade-ish color. I really like the way it turned out, and it worked up in about 30 minutes - which makes me very happy. I wrote out the pattern and now I'm looking for someone to test this pattern for me. ;) So can I talk one of you into this? I would like to have two testers if I could scrounge them up, maybe one intermediate and one very experienced. The first two to offer will get the job, and in return will get a copy of all my other patterns for free. I will have more patterns out soon so if you would be willing to test for those, please let me know. I am lovin how versatile this scarflette is! You can wear it fitted (like above picture) or more loose like a collar (like picture below). I can't wait to wear it, I love this color (which did not photograph well) with my red hair. There are not many colors that compliment red hair well, it is so nice to find one every now and then. I am hoping to have this pattern in my shop in the next week or so. I will let you know when it is ready. NOTE: If you want to comment but do not have a blogger account, comment as anonymous and leave your name. Edit: You guys are amazing! Before I went to bed last night I had all the testers (some contacted me through sewingmamas) I needed! Let me know if you would like to be a future tester, this will be a good place to have your names all in one place.

Samantha,
I received my book on Sat! Love it! Thank you so much. I want to make a blanket with edging I think. Since I don't crochet, I'll need to take my time, but I think I can do it.
Love the bonnets. I go to Lancaster PA a lot, and your girls do look like the little Amish girls, so sweet! I've made several very similiar bonnets. I have sold mine for $25 to $30, when I make them to match a Christening gown, and I think that is really not enough, but people don't realize how much goes into it, as I'm sure you know. XO

I'm sorry I didn't check your blog last night. I'd love to be a tester next time. Thanks for your lovely comments. To answer a question--I have no idea what kind of nursing I want to do, so far I like med-surgery, psych, peds, home care, palliative, pretty much everything. It will depend on where I get a job. I would love being in peds though.

The pictures are gorgeous. The twins are little angels and so are your girls. The coats and bonnets are so sweet. I remember wanting something like that so badly when I was young. Somehow I don't think it would work as well on me now, unless I move to Amish country. I would think you could charge about $40 for them, though I don't know how much you paid in materials and then consider your own labour.

The scarf is beautiful. I love the colour. So far I've crocheted one of two patterns for the slippers. I'm a horrible finisher though, so it may take a week or so before I get the buttons sewn on and I can post photos.

Have a good day.

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We

A Wee Newborn Fairy Bonnet Pattern

I wanted to make something to go with the cardigan I made for my coming niece, so I decided on a wee fairy bonnet.
