Footie Pajamas

The other night while I was hard at work on my website, I told Molly to go put some footie pajamas on Maddie. She came back and said that she couldn't find any. I was so in my own little world, that I just told her to go back and look again. She didn't come back for about fifteen minutes, but I didn't notice because I was so 'locked in' to the computer (bad mama!). When she finally came back she said, "Mom, I couldn't find those footie pajamas that you were talkin about; so I just made her some." Well THIS got mamas attention! I turned and looked at this.......
Molly had found a sweat suit, put the top on Maddie, got the pants, and sewn a sock onto the leg. Footie pajamas. Just like I said. She couldn't find what I was talking about, but she had to obey, so she just worked it out. I laughed so hard! I told Molly that she was absolutely the coolest kid on earth. Can you believe how inventive? I was just so proud! She did a pretty good job too, not bad at all for a six year old. I'm so glad I got this girl a sewing machine early!
I will try to have the single crochet tutorial up this week, so stay tuned.

What a brilliant daughter! I can tell where she gets her talent with a mother like you!
You have a genius on your hands. She's an adult in a little person's body.

Amazing child you have there.

The Handmade Dress Infomercial: Do you suffer from scrached DVD's?

Do your children cry when they can't watch their favorite movie because of irritating scratches? Are you sick of paying good money for movies that are scratched minutes after you take them from the case? Do you often wish that we could just go back to VHS because you could leave them out in the rain, bring them in and use them for a coaster, and then let the baby throw it for fun and it would STILL WORK!? ME TOO ! . We have struggled for years with scratched movies that were no longer watchable, but not anymore! We have finally found the secret formula to rid you of this nasty little problem forever! . Crest Kids Toothpaste! YES, that's what I said! Kids toothpaste! . A few months back I heard some place that toothpaste would take of scratches and I tried it and it didn't work, then the other day out of pure desperation I tried it my way. IT WORKED! So I decided this kind of news could not be kept secret, I have to tell the world! So I ...

New triple bunks.

Ben designed new bunk beds for the "girl's dorm" and "boy's dorm" in our house. We LOVE them!! We are almost done with all of the work, just a few loose ends left to tie up, but I couldn't wait to show off his handy-work. This is the girl set. We stained them with colored stain and we really like how that turned out. It's almost the color of cranberries. I still need to paint the boards that are attached to the wall. I'm going to paint them the color of the wall so that it looks like the beds are floating. :)  This is the boy set while still under construction. We ordered new bunk mattresses, but they haven't come in yet. I will show you guys pictures when they are completely finished. We stained these green, it looks like the color of bamboo. The kids LOVE these beds! And oh the space we have now! I'll be back soon with finished pictures! xo, Sam If any of you make beds using these plans could you send us a picture? We ...

Diaper Tutorial: How to make a fitted from a prefold.

Today I'm going to teach you to make this..... ...from this! The easy way! Some of you may want to know why I would want to do that to start with. Well first, the cheapest way to cloth diaper is to use prefolds and covers. Prefolds only cost about $1-$2 each and if you have 24 you can wash every other day and have plenty of diapers. You only need about 4 covers (and that's PLENTY) to go with them and you are set. (Covers are the waterproof outer shell that keeps baby's clothes dry.) For the newborn stage cost is very important because they grow out of them so fast! Prefolds are bulky and fiddly to use on newborns, and that's why I haven't used mine at all until now. Fitteds however, make life much easier because you don't have to try to fold the diaper around your tiny baby. To be honest I just couldn't get the hang of it on a newborn. Prefolds come in several different sizes so as long as you have the correct size for your babe, this t...
