Little Girls

(Lyric is a huge fan of the sling :) We now have five little girls living under our roof, and for a girl like me...that's perfect!! Don't get me wrong, I love my boy with all of my heart, I'm just not disappointed in the ratio of boys and girls. I'm happy. One of my most favorite things about baby girls (which I have three of at the moment) is dressing them! Oh my goodness! I don't think I could ever get tired of it! Every night before we have to go somewhere I lay out their outfits with all of the pieces so that the big kids can help me dress them. I love mixing leggings that came with one thing with tops or dresses that came with something else. I rarely ever dress them in an outfit that came together. Then around the age of 2 1/2 - 3 I let them take the lead a little, and that makes it even more fun! To get to see their personality in what they have on is so cute! I remember Maddie once running to the hardware store on a Saturday morning wearing po

A Shiner for the New Walker

This had to be documented while she was asleep because that's the only time she's still enough lately! Our new walker has the markings of a new walker...a pretty nice shiner. Claire keeps asking if she can "wear make-up like Penny Pie". Ha! It may sound crazy but I always try to take pictures of their little goose eggs and purple eyes, it's like a right of passage in that transition from baby to toddler...it's just so fast. I wish I had done more of that when Molly was little. Remember those days of disposable cameras that never got developed? Ahhh! And now we have a camera on our phone, our tablet, a big camera, and any photos can be shared with just a click of a button. I'm glad it's that easy now that I have so many little ones, but I wish it had been that easy then too. What would it be like to go back there for just one day and see her like this? I'm just going to keep soaking up all that I can! The fun stuff and the boo-boos that can be

Batty!

This little person knows just how to drive her mommy batty in the doctor's office! Her strategy goes something like this: "Let me touch everything in sight and then lick my fingers! And then ask to go potty and touch the toilet seat! Yeah!" For someone that doesn't have a germ problem AT ALL most of the time, I have a BIG problem with hospitals, doctor's offices, and public bathrooms. The good news is that my baby Lyric has finally turned a corner and can breathe better! Praise God! Having a three month old that can't breathe is so stressful, and her little body needs a break from the stress too. Tomorrow will be a nice peaceful day at home....and this mama can't wait! I wish you a happy happy Saturday! xo, Sam   Posted with Blogsy

An Attempt at Newborn Pictures

Yesterday I tried to take some "newborn" pictures of Lyric. At 12 weeks she is still technically a newborn, but those pictures are normally done in the 1-6 week range when babies are still very sleepy and floppy. Lyric is none of those things! Ha! But it was very important to me to take lots of pictures for her mama, so I gave it a go. This is a sampling of what I got, cute of course (how could they not be?!), but not exactly what I was going for! You get what I'm saying? Bwahahahaha! So I gave up and decided to try a different way another day, but when I went through the pictures later I did find just one, semi-blurry picture that spoke to me... It describes her perfectly somehow...and I really do love it. I hope her mama will too. xo, Sam   Posted with Blogsy

Thankful

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind. We have had a lot of adjustments to make with unexpectedly having a newborn in the house, they were happy adjustments, just a search for a new rhythm really. We've changed up schedules a bit, rearranged the family closet to accommodate another little one, learned a new sleep schedule, trained other tiny hands to be gentle, we've made lots of extra time for snuggling and bonding, had doctor and hospital visits as we got our little girl through her first real illness (RSV), we have become expert bottle feeders (at least we feel like we are much better at it!), and little Lyric has just fit in perfectly. I would like to also add writing back into our new rhythm, so I've decided to try and post everyday, even if it's just a few words and a picture of our day. I do miss this place, and being regular here, but with so much life going on under my roof it has been hard to make time for it. I've counted and since we found

A Full Bed

We were all separated while I stayed in the hospital with little Lyric, and life has been so very busy for the last couple of weeks....so this bed full of lazy kids and bottle sucking babies is just what this tired mama needed this morning. Our sweet Lyric is still recovering from RSV, boy was that scary!! I'm keeping the next few days as low key as possible while she gets well on kisses and snuggles. Low key, now that sounds nice doesn't it? xo, Sam   Posted with Blogsy

A New Foster Angel

We are honored to have a beautiful new 11 week old angel, named Lyric, in our home! She is such a good baby but a little sick with a bad cold. It's so easy (and fun!) to spoil these sweet children when they come, knowing that they need extra love and snuggles. We will probably have her for an extended period of time since she is a distant family member. If you could lift her and her mama up in prayer I would certainly appreciate it! My prayer is that God will send comfort, wisdom, and reconciliation. I wish I could explain all of the ways that God has sent provisions for this precious baby, but I just can't be away that long today! I know I've said it a thousand times but I can never say it enough! He is Always so FAITHFUL!! And His Amazing Grace is sufficient, and made absolutely perfect in MY weakness! xo, Sam   Posted with Blogsy

Yoked Cardigan

I didn't mean to be gone so long, but I got a little under the weather for a few days. It was yucky! Now about the cardigan! She loves it!! And so do I! This girl of mine waited (not so patiently) for the last three days of knitting for this cardigan to be finished and gave me the motivation needed to get it off the needles. She is a purple addict these days, and a tutu addict, and a cowboy boot addict....but the purple was perfect for her because it goes well with a lot of her clothes and it's her favorite color . She already picks her own outfits out, with a little help from me, according to the weather I may try to talk her into or out of more layers. This little Claire Bells Sassafrass Caffee has a style all her own! (You can check out my Ravelry notes HERE ) I've knitted a couple of other small things in the last few days since finishing this and now I'm working on a cardigan for Penny. Maddie is saying now that she needs one too, I love that they li
