Mama's Summer Embroidery Project

The "Summer of Embroidery" is off to a good start! One of my summer projects is hand embroidered alphabet designs booklet. There are four different sets of designs using three different types of embroidery. I can't tell you how relaxing this project has been so far. It has forced me to slow down, sit, listen, cuddle, drink way too much coffee, and stitch...all very good things. All of the embroidery samples are done now so it won't be long before this project is in the shop for all of you to enjoy too.

This set is shadow work embroidery with lazy daises.

This is one of my favorites! It's all bullion stitched stems, roses, and buds. I have done similar initials on baby gowns for years, but I normally just freehand the design. The only trouble with that is that after I give it away I can never use the same design again. Now that all of the work is done I can just trace these off and whip up a baby dress in no time!

In this set the letters and numbers are outlined and then filled with pretty floral designs.

This set is a little more casual and fun..... and also has a big fat stain on it that I didn't notice until this picture was already uploaded! No worries, I got the stain out, but by then it was too dark out to retake the picture. Oh well, you get the idea. See...those things happen at my house too.

So what do you think, do you like'em, lov'em, hate'em? Which set is your favorite? How could you use these?

You've inspired me! I have a couple wedding gifts to give this month- I've been knitting some dishclothes, but needed something else I could make, from stuff I have (budgetting) I saw your shadow work letters and it came to me! His and Her pillowcases, with hand embroidery. I just had to tell you thanks!

That's great news. I'll need it for Christmas so I can start putting the refrain for "His eye is on the sparrow" on the yoke of dds Easter dress.

I like the outlined ones filled with flowers. I guess I'm a romantic. I love embroidery! These would be sweet on personalized pillowcases, and sweet Sunday bags.

Love the second and last ones. I think even I could do those!

Those are adorable. I love it! I have not embroidered in so long that would be a fun project, for winter for me!

I am intrigued, I have never seen, nor heard of the second set, but it is probably one of my favorite!
Wonderful, beautiful work... as always! :)

I love shadow embroidery, but I love all of the others, as well. The one with the bullion roses is pretty amazing.

Wow, you do such beautiful work. I just found a book all about embroidery stitches at a garage sale this morning. I live in South America so I was very surprised to come across this. I hope I am able to create things even half as nice as yours. I can't wait to see your designs in your store.

Beautiful, of course. We would expect no less from the talented Miss Samantha. My favorite is the very simple last set.

Beautiful! I love the last set for fun little burpies - the flower could easily be a yellow star for those of us with two sons and four nephews ;-) The second set is beautiful as well!

Beautiful!! It's hard to pick a favorite. I'm a sucker for shadow work so that sticks out to me. The bullion letters look time-consuming but very pretty and all the sweet lazy daisies and french knots are so eye-catching. Great work!! I look forward to using them ALL!

All of the stitches are beautiful! My favorite is the shadow stitches. Where do you get the pattern for all of these stitches?

I was totally going to ask you where you got these gorgeous embroidery designs because I loved them so. And what do you know, their yours! Yay! I can't wait until they're in your shop, oh they're beautiful!

I like them all but think my favorites are the last two. If I had to narrow it down to just one I think it would be the outlined and filled flowers of #3 though. :) But I can see using the casual set a lot too, especially when you want/need something fast!

For uses I can think of basic yoke dresses, pockets, pillowcases, lingerie, dish towels, onesies, hankies.....

Oh!!! The third! I need the third. I could make it myself, but I don't want to. Don't you wanna sell the third? Oh I LOVE THAT SET.

T-shirts, borders on little dresses, notebook covers... cards...

PLEASE SELL THAT SET!
